This bill proposal will establish a grant program under the U.S. Department of Justice {DOJ} and Human Services to provide temporary financial, mental health, and legal assistance to families impacted by a child’s disappearance, death by suicide, or homicide resulting from systematic school failure or negligence, and for other purposes.

This bill proposal will establish federal standards for prosecuting school officials and employees who demonstrate gross negligence leading to the disappearance of student, leading to death, or severe harm of student.

This bill proposal addresses the need for prevention by ensuring all public schools that receive federal funds have minimum safety standards, clear surveillance policies, and mandated staff training.
